Korean War Memorial

Considering no one seems to know what to do with this war these days, the memorial is oddly fitting. We have the black reflecting wall of the Vietnam War Memorial, but instead of names, the etchings are derived from photographs of the period, including a MASH unit because no one else would remember the war otherwise. But we also have a water feature, because that’s the new style in monuments, and we have lifelike statuary that “invite” the viewer to walk among the soldiers on patrol on a rainy night. But don’t actually walk between them - you might get too close and either graffiti the hell out of them or realise how horrendously flimsy the whole rationale is. Fitting all around, and that’s depressing.
